Rev. Charles Martindale, known professionally as "Disco Duck" has been entertaining on the duck call since 1960.  He also entertains on other game calls such as the Primos Model 159 Palate Plate Mouth diaphragm Elk Call.

Charles holds the Bachelor of Music Education from Delta State University, and both the Master of Church Music and the Master of Christian Education degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  Charles has served on church staffs in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas in the capacity of Minister of Music, Minister of Education, Minister of Youth, Minister of Recreation, Minister of Senior Adults, and has held several other staff positions in various churches. He has also served as Band Director at Berwick, Louisiana high school.

God has given Charles a very unique talent. He plays a variety of tunes on the Duck call and other game calls. Charles has played Classical, Folk, Swing, Big Band, Country Music, Gospel Music, Hymns, Children’s music, Patriotic, and Rock and Roll music on the duck call and other calls. His music selections include such songs as:

Elvira, Great Balls of Fire, Achey Breaky Heart, Purple People Eater, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, Top of the World, How Much is that Doggy in the Window?, All the Gold in California, The Battle of New Orleans, Jenny, Jenny Jen, Don’t Be Cruel, Wabash Cannon Ball, Puff the Magic Dragon, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Jingle Bells, Battle Hymn of the Republic, This Land is Your Land, The Hokie Pokie, The Hallelujah Chorus, and over 100 other songs.

“Disco Duck” has played for Senior Adult Conferences in seven different states, for Church Recreation Weeks at both Glorieta and Ridgecrest Baptist Conference Centers, Mid-South Rec Lab, Tarrant County Senior Adult Music Festival, Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas, Wild Game Dinner First Baptist Church, McGhee, Arkansas, East Texas Baptist Children’s camp in Lone Star, Texas, Masonic Lodge in Oakridge, La., North American Congress on the Age Wave in Toronto, Canada, Ministry of Inspirational Therapy Annual Banquet in West Monroe, La., La. Department of Tourism Writer’s Conference in Shreveport, La., Southern Baptist Convention Senior Adult Leadership Summit in Nashville, Tenn., First Baptist Church Maplewood, La., Northeast La. Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Banquet, Tennessee Baptist Religious Educators Annual meeting, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation World Elk Calling Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Acadiana Outdoor Festival in Lafayette, La., Ridgeland, Mississippi Parks and Recreation Department Annual Senior Adult Banquet, West Tallahatchie High School Class Reunion in Grenada, Mississippi, First Baptist Church West Monroe, La. Senior Adult banquet, Median Adult Banquet, and Annual Wild Game Dinner.  He also entertained at the Healing America National Convention in Nashville, Tennessee in 2003.  In March 2006, he was asked to stand and play Elvira on the duck call by the Oak Ridge Boys at their concert in Branson, Missouri.

“Disco Duck” has also appeared on the Nationally Televised Christian Family variety Show: “Swan’s Place” with Dr. Dennis Swanberg.  He was featured on the KNOE TV “Backroads Program with Louis Redden,"  did a promotional “bumper” for the CBS “This Morning” Show in New York, was featured on the Robert Charles Payne show, and on the Moon Griffon Radio Show.  He was also contacted by phone by the Jay Leno show about appearing on that show. Charles completed 28 years on staff at Fist Baptist Church West Monroe, La.  Prior to his retirement in February of 2003.  Charles has also appeared in the 2003-2004 National Register of Who’s Who among Executives and Professionals and will also appear in the 2006-2007 edition.

Charles has been married to Dee Martindale, a retired 5th grade teacher at Downsville, La. for 44 years.  Charles and Dee have three children: Chuck, Debbie and Andy. The Martindales also have five grandchildren: Taylor, Haley, MaKenzie, Nick and Drew.

Charles dreams of entertaining for the World’s Duck Calling Contest in Stuttgart, Arkansas, and of appearing on the Jay Leno, Dave Letterman, and Opry Winfrey shows.

He considers his talents as a gift from God, and it is his desire to honor the Lord through all of the appearances that he makes throughout the United States and Canada.
